I have worked within a secondary school in St Austell for the last 5 years teaching English and Maths. This has ranged from intervention for low ability sets in Literacy and Humanities to preparing students for GCSE in Maths. Before my time here, I trained as a Primary School Teacher. I have been travelling to Australia and really enjoy cooking and running!
I enjoy the diversity of education and over the last 8 years, I have had the opportunity to gain experience across Key Stage 1, 2, 3 and 4. During the last 6 years I have worked extensively supporting and encouraging children to reach their full potential within Phonics, English and Maths. Additionally, I have extended my knowledge of preparing learning activities for a wide range of educational needs in particular those with behavioural difficulties.
I like to incorporate all learning styles to help students learn in the best way possible. Alongside this, I plan a variety of activities to keep students engaged in their work for the session. Above all, I plan to the student's needs and interests so students can get into activities fully and develop their skills as much as possible. I encourage all students to self-reflect and set targets to help me plan and encourage them to take responsibility for their own learning, not only within the tuition time but also in school.
