I am a bubbly qualified secondary school teacher who is obsessed with Spanish language and culture! I loved learning Spanish at school! Consequently, I decided to continue learning the language to university level. Whilst studying, I was fortunate enough to spend a year abroad attending a Spanish university and working at the Chambers of Commerce in Alicante. I consider that learning a language is so enriching and opens doors for young people. There have been so many opportunities that I have been offered due to knowing a foreign language. Before teaching I was even offered an events job whilst making friends on a beach in Gran Canaria. This resulted in participating in a promotional tour of mobile phones where I travelled for 6 months around Europe!
I am an experienced Head of Spanish and Lead Learning Practitioner in education with 8 years of experience of successfully teaching young people the beautiful language of Spanish. I am a qualified secondary school teacher and also hold a degree in International Business with Spanish. I have a wealth of experience of teaching KS3,4 and 5 students. I have an excellent track record of supporting students with their exams. I am very familiar with the demands of the exam boards in particular AQA, WJEC and Edexcel. I am very confident in supporting students with exam strategies.
My passion for learning is infectious amongst my students. I enjoy making my tutoring sessions fun with a range of kinaesthetic activities and a mixture of tasks covering the 4 skills listening, speaking, reading and writing. Grammar is also important to master. My approach is to teach grammar through engaging activities incorporating useful memorisation techniques to support my students. Every student's lesson is differentiated to their particular needs. Regular assessments are also carried out to check gaps in knowledge and progress. In my tutoring sessions, students are made to feel at ease to make errors and learn from their mistakes. I am approachable and friendly and passionate about seeing young people develop their linguistic skills.
