Information About Simon - Stoke-on-Trent tutor
This is how 2 referees rated Simon:
My name is Simon and I am a recently retired English teacher with 35 years experience of teaching English at secondary level. I have lived in Stoke-on-Trent for 30 years, working in two local schools after coming up from working in Hastings, East Sussex.
I have a keen interest in Literature, including reading and going to see plays in performance.
I have taught GCSE English for 35 years and although recently retired have a sound knowledge of the latest English exam, both Language and Literature. I am an examiner for the AQA exam board and have marked the new specification paper, meaning I have a very good understanding of what it takes to get a good grade.
I also work at a local branch of the Kip McGrath tutoring service, where I tutor students of all ages from Y5 upwards, but mainly deal with Y10 and 11 students who want to boost their chances of getting a good GCSE grade
My approach to tutoring is to work on the areas that the student feels they need to improve on. I feel that most of the work of the tutor is to boost the confidence of the student and prove to them that despite what they think they CAN get a good grade. I am willing to look at all aspects of the GCSE course from Shakespeare, to the Poetry Anthology to Language - anything that the student feels they need extra help on.
