I am currently a schoolteacher teaching both science and ICT. Throughout my life I have been interested in how things work and what makes things tick. Science and IT have been my passion along with Mathematics. I have taken a delight in passing on my knowledge with enthusiasm. My school teaching experience has been in small classes. While enjoying my BSc courses as a student I had the opportunity to do a module in programming and so I began to develop a love of coding. The wide variety of science courses I attended required me to maintain what I had learned in my Physics with Maths A level.
I have spent many of my early years in Kenya where I developed an interest in wildlife and photography. I have followed the development of computers both at home and in the schools where I have worked, going from Sinclair ZX 81 to BBC Model B through to the current day, learning how to configure, fix and trouble shoot as well as teach effective use of software.

Everybody is unique and different. I like to find ways of putting things across that enable the student to really understand. If one way is not working then another approach is needed. The effectiveness of teaching goes up as a clearer picture of the student’s ways of thinking and reacting are formed. Sometimes it is missing chunks of education from the past causing problems, sometimes a mental block that needs gently dissolving. Confidence building, a sense of achievement and success are all part of the process.
