I am qualified to carry out SpLD/Dyslexia assessments for all age groups and Disabled Student Allowance (DSA) assessments for University. I have a current Assessment Practicing Certificate.
I tutor primary, secondary and adult students. I have worked in special schools, mainstream and in the community as a class tutor, SENDco and classroom teacher. I have experience of working with learners of all ages with autism, fragile x, Down's syndrome, ADHD, dyslexia, dyspraxia, dyscalculia, low cognitive ability, hard of hearing, partially sighted, speech and language difficulties etc.
I work with all ages and specialise in supporting specific learning difficulties. I am happy to work with learners with any special educational needs. I can also support primary aged children who need a little booster help with English and Maths. I believe in promoting a calm and supportive environment for learning, in identifying a pupil's strengths as well as areas of difficulty and in helping to raise self esteem around learning.
In addition, I can offer study skills tutoring to young people studying for GCSEs and A levels. I can also carry out educational assessments to find out if specific learning difficulties are present or simply to ascertain strengths and weaknesses and preferred learning styles. I offer tutoring in my own home. Lesson length can vary from half an hour to an hour depending on age of child and provision although an hour is the norm for dyslexia literacy programmes. I also offer maths tutoring for dyscalculia and other maths difficulties e.g due to dyslexia and dyspraxia. I am happy to carry out assessments at the weekend.
