Personal Description:

I have completed my degree at LSE, studying BSc Economics and previously attended Woodford County High School, a grammar school for girls. I achieved A*s and As at A-level, studying Maths, Economics, Chemistry and Further Maths. I tutor students aged between 9 and 18 years old.

Tutoring Experience:

I have been privately tutoring for over two years and throughout it has been deeply rewarding to see how students gain confidence in their studies, make a real positive impact in class and receive class reports and test scores that celebrate high achievement. It is also great to see that the skills that I teach in class are used beyond school exams and are used to solve life problems, may they be to budget for the coming year to to decipher what is going on in complex news stories.

My experience as a voluntary classroom assistant for two years at Newbury Park Primary School and Cleveland Primary School gave me great understanding to how easy it was for some children to lag behind and yet paradoxically it was for them to flourish and meet their targets, with the aid of some 1-to-1 support. This experience also helped me understand that each individual needs a different amount of time to understand and really engage with topics and that certain activities work well with some people and others do not.

Tutoring Approach:

The first few lessons are spent solely on looking at past experiences that the student has had with trying to understand subject matter and getting to know what work study techniques work with them. After that, I design a study plan for the year, which is modified throughout the year as more time is spent on topics that the student finds more challenging and less time spent on those that the student gets to grips with quickly. I also set homework each week and mock tests are given regularly. This is so that the student receives feedback on how to improve regularly and becomes familiar with test-style questions and how to answer them to get the top grades.

What is more is that I am always available via phone call or messaging so that the student can clarify any doubts when they arise.
