I have been teaching early years children in Reception and Key Stage 1 for 40 years and, despite all those years, have not lost my love of inspiring and exciting young minds. I especially enjoy teaching reading and understand the difficulties some children have in mastering this complex skill. Now retired from full time teaching, I miss my teaching role and so have started tutoring. It is so rewarding to work in a 1:1 situation, building skills and therefore confidence with very young learners.
I have taught in Kent and West Sussex in both maintained and independent schools, worked on the West Sussex Learning Support team, and also as an Early Years advisor. My teaching posts range from Reception class teacher, deputy head, Special Needs teacher and, most recently, Head of an independent pre-prep. I am an experienced tutor, having worked with many children needing extra support.
Does your little one lack confidence at school, or do they need a bit of extra support with their learning? Using a fun and active attitude to learning, I believe children learn best when they feel secure and are enjoying themselves, so it is important to tailor learning to individual interests. Specialising in reading, writing and early maths, I use current methods and will liaise with class teachers where appropriate. I have enhanced DBS. If you would like to discuss your child's needs and the support I could offer, please contact me.
