I am a both a fully-qualified and experienced languages teacher and a learning mentor/coach for young people from 11-18. I relate really well to all my students and I understand the demands and pressures that young people are under both academically and socially first hand, both as teacher and also as a parent, since all three of my children are currently at various stages of their education (1 in juniors, 2 in secondary).
After qualifying as a teacher I taught German to GCSE and A-level for 5 years before I took a career break to raise my family. Since then I have obtained tuition work locally through friends/word of mouth and I have also taught French and Spanish classes at 2 local primary schools. For the past 12 years I have worked as a Learning Mentor at a local grammar school and gained valuable experience supporting students with a range of academic and emotional issues. I offer support with study/revision skills and time-management, I work with young people to try and build their emotional resilience around issues such as low self-esteem and stress management. I recently trained with the Mindfulness In Schools Project and am now a fully qualified instructor for young people in Mindfulness for Stress Reduction.
I have a huge amount of experience working with young people on a one-to-one basis, both as a mentor and a tutor. I have a kind and compassionate nature and I always build strong relationships with the young people I support. I have been pleased to help students I have tutored to reach their potential in their language exams.
