Hi there, my name is Shauna and I am an experienced Primary Teacher working within South Lanarkshire. I currently live in East Kilbride, and am available to travel to areas within East Kilbride, Hamilton, Cambuslang and Rutherglen. I am passionate about my job and love being instrumental in helping young people reach their full potential.
I studied BEd Primary Education at Edinburgh University and graduated in 2013. In my 5 years of teaching, I have worked with children who have a wide range of additional support needs, as well as highly able children who need further challenge. I have experience of teaching across all stages and have my own resources to support and enhance learning across Early, First, Second and Third level. I currently teach Primary 7, therefore have a unique insight into the struggles that many children face in their final year of Primary, as well as a strong understanding of the benchmarks for the end of second level.
My approach to tutoring is one of personalisation. Every child is different and has a different set of needs and expectations from the session, and therefore my first port of call is always to build a rapport with parents and children and find out what both parties are looking for from the sessions. From there I work closely with your child to identify areas of challenge and target the areas that will help to improve their overall achievement, confidence and ability in those areas. I aim to ensure my sessions are engaging, effective and enjoyable for the children, with a key focus on building confidence in their own ability in areas that will make a big difference to their overall skill in a curricular area.
