Information About Shaun - Alness tutor
I have an immense passion for History and always have since a very young age. Although this passion came through an unlikely media such as gaming, it highlighted to me at the very beginning that History is a subject that never bores me. I am currently studying History and Politics and am halfway through my first year. Although Although I have not officially tutored anyone privately, I believe my previous experiences will make up for that. This opportunity also presents to me a great insight into teaching which will be instrumental on my path to becoming a teacher and eventually a lecturer.
My long term goal is to hopefully be a professor and conduct lectures about History at a University level, just now though I want to become a secondary teacher. My knowledge in History stretches from Scottish history to Japan, the Romans and the Europeans.
In my 6th year at High School I volunteered to help 1st years who had social problems and perhaps did not possess the skills to tackle studies by themselves. I would attend these sessions for an hour each weak which helped me gain experience with a younger age group. I was also often asked to help out in my History class by my fellow students who could not grasp the studies as easily as others. Moreover, I often participated in History classes during my free period to again help those who found the work difficult.
My tutoring style can pretty much be described with one word; empathy. I truly understand what it is like to be in the shoes of someone who does not know what they are doing (especially relating to History). However, I also know how this can be overcome and how to sustain that level of credibility during class tests or exams. History is just one of those subjects that not a lot of people like but when they do, then they will most likely do well during exams. My tutoring style is that of educating the student but ensuring that it is fun to involve them more during their studies. Boring or overworking the student will do no good so when I teach someone, I ensure that their studies are not overpowering. Stress is good but it can become too much for the younger generations.
