I am a friendly and approachable person who enjoys helping people. I work hard in my endeavours; I am conscientious, honest and trustworthy. I have enjoyed roles working with children, including in schools and as an assistant leader of a Brownies pack. My gentle manner has encouraged and raised confidence in those I have worked with. I am a creative person, shown by the activities I like to do in my spare time such as drawing/ painting, sewing and baking. I also enjoy travelling.

Tutoring Experience

I worked in primary schools for five consecutive years between 2008 and 2013, as a Teaching Assistant and Higher Level Teaching Assistant. During this time, I taught whole classes of children in the short-term absence of the class teacher; I regularly worked with small groups and individual children. Many children that I have worked with have shown improvements in their attainment. I had particularly success in my implementation of one-to-one phonics and spellings booster lessons for Years 2 and 3 children.

I have been a private tutor since 2010, tutoring children between the ages of six and thirteen. Parents have frequently commented on noticed improvements in effort, attainment and confidence.

Tutoring Approach

I usually have a first meeting with the parent/carer(s) and child before tutoring begins. This is an opportunity to discuss what you're looking for and how tutoring would work. Of course, this also means that we all can meet and begin to get to know each other before tutoring begins.

I draw on a variety of strategies and resources, taking into account different learning styles. I find that it can be helpful to work alongside what your child is learning at school so I welcome any input on this. I give regular feedback, involving your child in talking to you about our lessons.

I advertise a flat-rate fee; however the fee that I would agree with you will be based on distance and time to travel to your home.
