Online Maths Tutor

AVAILABLE TO TEACH ONLINE TOO GIVEN THE CURRENT CIRCUMSTANCES.

I am a Head of Maths currently working in a secondary school in Oldbury (Sandwell). I have worked in three other Sandwell schools over the last 9 years, teaching at both KS3 and KS4. Therefore, I have a broad experience of teaching across all ages and year groups.
I thoroughly enjoy teaching mathematics; I am very personable and patient with all of my students. My main aim is to work with them to improve their confidence and ability, as many students can find mathematics difficult. I am passionate about making a significant impact in all my students education, doing my best to achieve and exceed their target grades.
I am good at breaking down concepts and explain them in a way that the student will understand. It is important for me to make mathematics enjoyable and make those target grades achievable.
Previous parents I have had the pleasure of working with, have commented how their child has gained confidence within the classroom at school from having my sessions which is rewarding. I build positive relationships with my students and always provide feedback to parents on how their child is progressing.

I have an enhanced DBS to ensure your child is safe during my tutoring sessions.

Tutoring Experience

I have been tutoring for over 12 years. Being a GCSE examiner for the last 7 years I have a strong understanding of common misconceptions and where students go wrong in an exam. My sessions and teaching will be based on these expertise, and providing the most effective methods of answering the question correctly and accurately to gain the maximum marks.

Tutoring Approach

I aim to create a friendly, non-pressured approach to learning and to make mathematics enjoyable for my tutees and build their self confidence in the subject. I am patient and emphasise with pupils, and understand that children and young people have different learning needs. Therefore I personalise the work depending on the individual and their needs. Informally going through an exam paper to start, will draw attention to the areas which we need to work on. Questioning and discussion will also help to highlight any weaknesses or misconceptions that need addressing. My lessons are well planned and structured; I ensure no time is wasted. I also prepare tutees for upcoming examinations by using past papers and target resources and materials.

I offer an in-depth phone consultation before our first session so that I can ensure the tutoring is individualised to the student. It is also important to discuss what you hope to gain from out sessions and establish the goals you would like to achieve. I will then ensure that the time spent is productive as possible and hit the ground running from the beginning.
