This is how 2 referees rated Shane:
Government and Politics
I have worked in academia since 2001, in research, HE teaching and more recently in schools and colleges one-to-one with SEN students. I am educated to PhD level and my specialist subjects are sociology, geography and politics. I can also teach English. I come from a non-traditional academic background and I am well versed in the challenges which students face in learning environments from GCSE to higher education.
I worked for five years as a lecturer at the University of Exeter with undergraduate, masters and PhD students. I worked one-on-one and in a classroom. I am a member of the Higher Educational Academy and have teaching qualifications in Teaching and Learning in Higher Education and a Postgraduate Certificate in Academic Practice. In my last year at Exeter, I was nominated for a teaching award by the Exeter Students Union Guild.
I use a diversity of approaches to teaching and have a good understanding of uses of different methods and approaches to engaging students, different learning styles, and different needs and requirements

Shane has set homework every week in order to ensure my son stays on top of his revision. It has made a huge difference to my son's learning. He is more confident and motivated as a result.
We only wished we had started the tutoring with Shane much earlier.
