I am very passionate about education and the foundation that it creates for a life long road that will, then continue to be a young person's future. It is important that I teach or deliver this knowledge in a creative and positive way. I am aware of the different ways that children learn and believe it is of high importance that the children feel they are being listened too, as well as having an input in how they wish to receive the information. Positivity, innovation and motivation are always evident in my sessions.
At present I am working within a primary school setting, on a one to one basis with a child that has a severe visual impairment, autism and working below her Year 4 related targets (last academic year). It was my duty to differentiate the work given by the class teacher. The lessons would be delivered by myself in a separate space before hand, to make the child aware of what was expected of her and discuss any concerns or worries about the work. As she works on lower targets, creating new resources or activities to make her access to learning easier was always a priority on my end. The attention span of the child is less than the average child, so I would incorporate learning breaks into our lessons to ensure that the child is fully engaged and that we can maximise the outcome of success. I will be seeing this child through her Year 5 journey in education, this academic year.
Previously working in Year 6, I was responsible for mixed ability interventions and SATS booster classes- focusing on closing any gaps that the children are facing in class. I did this a minimum of three times a week, within school hours and after school. This was a crucial time for the children in their final year of primary school. When teaching I also liked to encourage self confidence and belief in each child. It was important for them to know and feel that they are capable of achieving whatever they put their mind too. Positivity is a prominent factor, on the path to success. I have also had experience in Years 1, 2, 3 and 5.
Sessions will be tailored to suit the needs of the child. Based on my knowledge of the various styles of learning, I am happy to deliver my lessons in accordance to your child. I allow the child to move at their own pace, giving your child the chance to explore different methods and ways of coming to their answer. As mentioned before, I believe that positivity is a strong factor for success, so positive affirmations are very much part of my teaching style. I myself have a positive and cheery disposition, making the sessions a happy and comfortable environment. Praise is something I believe also boosts confidence, in addition to this, the ability to be challenged, enhancing greater knowledge.
