Personal Description:

I am a professional research scientist, academic and qualified teacher. I have over a decade of expertise in Biology and Chemistry based research/teaching, as well as teaching Physics. Science is a passion of mine, and I strive to instil this passion in others. Mathematics is a skill I use routinely as a scientist.

Currently I am fully booked for 1 to 1 private tuition for the year. I am taking students for intensive tuition over half term holiday periods and also for weekly small group sessions running throughout the academic year.

Tutoring Experience:

Over 10 years of research in Biochemistry. Molecular Biology, Genetics, Microbiology, Protein Biochemistry and Structural Biology.

PhD - Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Genetics, Microbiology, Mentoring, Assessment of PhD and PhD Theses, Presentation Skills.

Msc - Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Genetics, Microbiology, Mycology, Mentoring, Assessment of Masters students, Masters Theses.

A-Level: Biology and Chemistry.

GCSE: Biology, Chemistry, Physics.

KS3: Biology, Chemistry, Physics.

Tutoring Approach:

Each tutee is an individual with his or her particular needs and strengths. This is something I take into account when tutoring. A comprehensive and thorough examination of topics taught is important, and I strive to bring out the best in a tutee by providing high quality tutoring, encouragement and benchmarks for tutee achievement through continuous assessment and feedback. Most importantly, I work to enable tutees to perform in their examinations, and to support those seeking advice about career/further education.

GCSE sessions are for small groups of 3 or 4 students. A-level students are tutored on a one-to-one basis on Friday and Saturday evenings.

Please note: an extra 2.50 per hour applies if I travel to the tutee's home.
