I am a secondary Mathematics teacher at a local academy. I chose to go into teaching after having worked as a Higher Level Teaching Assistant with Mathematics specialism soon after graduating. This particular role allowed me to work with the weakest Key stage 3 students and enabled me to develop my skills on working with students that struggled grasping numeracy concepts. Alternatively I have worked in many after school revision sessions for GCSE classes focusing on the new 9-1 GCSE and ensuring that new content is understood and accessible. The experience I had as a HLTA persuaded me to apply for my qualified teacher status. After obtaining qualified teacher status I have worked with many different levels of sets, this has enabled me to appreciate and work with students of all abilities.
*I have been qualified for 4 years
*I have Worked in a variety of different schools within Norfolk and the West Midlands
*I have tutored privately for 2 years, working with a variety of different aged tutees from the ages of 7 - 16 years
Primary/Secondary Key stage 3
I will focus on securing a firm understanding of all numeracy methods. Time will be spent looking at written methods for addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. As well as focusing on problem solving questions which develop reasoning skills.
The main focus will be exam practise and technique. As the new 9-1 GCSE involves new content. Time will be taken to focus on the new content, revisit old content and devise a structured resource bank to aid with revision.
