This is how 4 referees rated Serena:
I am a working Actor and Director who graduated 3 years ago from Court Theatre Training Company with a 2:1 BA (Hons) in Acting. I have also undertaken various other qualifications in Circus, Dance and Film. My training included acting technique, movement and voice studies as well as textural analysis and improvisation.
Since graduating I have worked as an actor in a number of independent films and theatre. The most recent film 'Banjo' premiered at Fright Fest in Leicester Square last Summer and my last play 'Caught' premiered at the Pleasance Theatre in London to a sold out run.
I have also started my own film company Secret Garden Pictures, where our first film "Lady in the Park" which I wrote and directed enters festivals this September. I also run a theatre company called I'll Be Right Back and am a member of London based comedy inprovisational group The Rubiks.
I am passionate about acting and literature, with a detailed focus on all aspects of contemporary work through to Shakespeare, Ibsen, Chekhov and Wilde. I received mostly 1st/2:1's for all my essays while at university and 1st for my exams and can quite happily tutor all levels of the English Language, Literature and all Acting/Drama requirements.
I am based in East London.
I have been working as a tutor since graduating in 2013.
I have had a number of pupils ranging from those studying Drama at A Level to those prepping their audition pieces for acting schools and I have also helped those studying at university with their essays.
Recently I have been advising a number of film students on film funding applications and how to put together a crowd funding campaign on various platforms including Kickstarter and Indigogo.
Acting and Drama tends to be quite bespoke depending on the requirements of the student and as such I am able to offer packages based on the below:
Acting Technique (Stanislavski - Meisner - Laban - Method - Marinoni - Guskin - Adler - Chekhov - Chubbuck)
Ibsen - Chekhov - Wilde
Public Speaking / Confidence Building
Acting for Screen
Building a Character
How to build a successful Crowdfunder - Kickstarter / Indigogo
Practical advice for new actors (how to find an agent, getting your showreel sorted, audition technique, career advice)
Everyone learns differently, some are better with visuals, some through practice and some through more academic routes and as such I aim to understand how each child/person approaches learning and then create a personalised tool-kit for them to approach their studies.
I aim to inspire and create an enthusiastic approach to learning for the pupil so aim to make this as informative and creative as possible. Often what is needed is someone to help the pupil build up their confidence to shine and give them the practical advice to show them the way. I like to encourage students to ask questions (there's never a wrong one!) and to challenge what they are being taught as well as preparing them in line with examination requirements.
