Personal Description:

I am a third year Medical Student at the University of Bristol, currently finishing an intercalated Bachelor's degree in Biochemistry (BSc) before returning to medicine. I went to a French primary school and as such am fluent in both French and English.

Tutoring Experience:

I have tutored students privately from the ages of 5 to 17 as well as teaching after school classes at a private 6th form college in chemistry, biology, physics and maths to students ranging from 13-17 years old.

Tutoring Approach:

I have a great love for every aspect of science, but have always found that the educational systems that I've had to go through fail to tailor their teaching to the individual, with the result of some students finding themselves uninspired with the course while others give up as they can't understand the material being covered. As such, I work with students on a personal level to identify their specific areas of weakness and work through as many explanations, analogies and demonstrations as needs be to get them to a point of understanding. Additionally, a disappointingly important part of GCSE and A level exams is exam practice itself. As the exams begin to loom, I work through all the available past papers with the student and highlight key areas where marks can be maximised with little effort and the kinds of stock answers examiners look for: a tedious but necessary task! I find that this approach has managed to get students from a D or a C to an A or an A* in many cases and goes to show how much potential students have that they don't realise!
