I am a student at the Blackpool Sixth Form College, and have been accepted to study Geography at Durham University this coming October. I was born in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, and lived there until I was fourteen, when me and my family moved to the UK to be closer to family and take advantage of the education system. I am a friendly person who enjoys music, films, reading, and socialising with friends. All of these activities I do in both spanish and english. I read books in Spanish, and particaularly enjoy Latin American Literature, watch Spanish films, such as the Motorcycle Diaries - one of my favourites, and have a good friendship with the Spanish speaking exchange students at my college.
I do not currently have any professional teaching experience as this will be my first time tutoring someone. However, I am often approached by teachers who ask me to spend some time with some of their students, particularly in Spanish, because of my background.
I am still to find my exact approach to tutoring as I have not done it before. I will however, always try to tutor at a level suitable to the needs of the tutee, but with sufficient rigour to ensure that there is always progression from every session. I hope to build a rapport with the student, and I believe having a good sense of humour will work to my advantage as tutees will feel comfortable and sessions will not become a chore. In my opinion, tutoring will be a two-way learning experience, where I will learn just as much from the tutee as they will from me.
