Personal Description:

A KS4 & KS5 Teacher of Physics, based near Sleaford and teaching Physics at a leading Lincolnshire grammar school.

My core strengths are based around my strong subject knowledge, but also my personable nature. Developing a good relationship with a student is key to maximising learning opportunities. Direct teaching experience enables me to tailor lessons to suit an individual needs, regardless of their abilities.

Tutoring Experience:

I have been teaching for 5 years and I am currently employed as a teacher of Physics, delivering the subject to students aged 11-18, at GCSE up to A-level. My current school uses the AQA examination board for their qualifications.

I also have direct experience of teaching Edexcel Core, Additional and Further Additional Science in Physics, Biology and Chemistry. As a Physics specialist, it has also been my role to teach Physics as a separate science to our highest ability students, including extracurricular booster sessions to small groups of Gifted and Talented students. Equally, I have a good experience of teaching students, both at Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, according to the challenging new 9-1 GCSE curriculum.

My teaching experience ranges from teaching AQA A-Level and IGCSE Physics to grammar school students, to teaching P-Level general science to SEND students in a secondary modern. I also have experience mentoring PGCE student teachers, helping them to develop their own teaching careers.

I have tutored pupils for over two years across all three sciences, ranging from Year 9 students to Year 13 Physicists.

Tutoring Approach:

At the heart of Science lies a select group of fundamental skills, and I believe mastery of these skills will enable any student to succeed in Science. Every type of question a student can face can be broken down and tackled one chunk at a time.

I am also very technologically literate, and often use ICT to teach my students.

I think every session should have desirable difficulties, and time for reflection on content which has been learned.
