Hi, my name is Sijia Gao and you can call me Scarlett.

I’m a first year PhD student in Quantum Theory group at the University of Glasgow. I just graduated from the MSci programme in theoretical physics in 2017 with a first class degree.

I was born and received my education in China. I was also fifth in the national entrance exam for the youth class of a top 10 Chinese university when I was 15.

Tutoring Experience

I received an internship in 2015 as a tutor for first year physics at the summer school of the University of Glasgow. My group of student graduated with the highest average GPA.
I have also taken the ‘peer to peer’ course in university. During this course I was atutor for the lower year students in physics.
This year I am also the teacher assistant of the Quantum information course and first year physics.

Tutoring Approach

I believe students should be guided rather than lead. Also, I believe it is better to thoroughly understand one problem than do a lot of problems.
