A PhD DOCTORATE OFFERING TUTORING IN GCSE MATHS AND SCIENCE.
DBS CHECKED - I can provide evidence upon request.
I currently work as a scientist and I wouldn't be where I am today if it wasn't for the help I received from private tutors during my education.
I am now keen to help students and share my knowledge to ensure students reach their best potential :).
1 - I have been tutoring for four years now and I thoroughly enjoy it. I get the chance to sit down with the student and give them the one-to-one support that is needed and seeing their confidence grow and results succeed is ever so rewarding.
2 – National Open College Network Peer Mentoring Course
I have successfully completed the national open college network peer mentoring course. During this time I was mentoring GCSE students in 1-1 session and group lessons. With my guidance and tutoring I helped a student bring their science grade from an E to a B.
3 – Supervising Students, PhD
During my PhD, I am continuously supervising students both in the lab and academically. I am responsible for their safe working in the lab, marking their work and giving constructive feedback.
4 – Volunteering, Dalton Court Community Centre
A weekly homework club where children from the local community attend to complete their homework. The academic level is very broad from secondary school level to A-level. This is personally a very rewarding experience for me, every child deserves the right to learn and being able to help and assist with a person’s academic development is gratifying.
My lesson plans are methodological, starting with the exam board and using the subject learning objectives for desired modules and practising exam questions/papers and understanding mark schemes.
How each section is completed is dependent on whether the student is a visual, audio or practical learner. For example, with Chemistry, I have a molecular set which visually and practically aids with understand organic chemistry mechanisms. I like to make my tutoring lessons diverse and not just sitting down with a book, pen and paper.
