I am a biology PhD student at Oxford University. I did my undergraduate degree in Biological Sciences and my Masters by research in Veterinary Parasitology at the University of Bristol. I would love to help anyone struggling with English, maths, or science to give them a helping hand and assist them in getting the best grades to get into college/university.
I have taught people from the age of 10 up to the age of 35. I started tutoring when I taught a young girl struggling with the transition from primary to secondary helping to improve her maths skills. From then on, I have tutored many more students including GCSE and A level. I have also taught at university level, teaching undergraduates biology in practical sessions along with teaching postgraduates how to carry out different lab techniques. My latest tutees achieved A* results making me very proud!!
I really enjoy teaching and love helping people achieve their full potential. I am very passionate about my subjects and convey that interest to really get my tutee involved with the topic and get them to start understanding it on a new level i.e. instead of just being told information to memorise, I like to use analogies and explain the importance of the findings and the relevance on a larger scale. For example with biology, topics are often taught in a very narrow sense unit by unit which often makes it difficult to remember things about them, but if you start building the bigger picture then you can get the tutee to become interested and develop a personal drive to find out more.
