This is how 2 referees rated Sarah:
I have always been passionate about the French language, right from an early age. I just think it is one of the most beautifully flowing and intriguing languages the world has to offer! I was brought up in very much a bilingual community; I lived in France for 4 years and attended a French primary school. During Years 7 to 10 I studied at the Lycée Français Charles de Gaulle in London where all my subjects were taught in French, and then followed the British curriculum to complete my GCSE and A Level examinations. I remember starting to learn French in primary school in London and thinking "wow, I'm learning a third language!" and from that moment, I always knew that my passion in life would be languages.
I have a BA Honours Degree in French studies from the University of Southampton, studying a variety of topics from French history and contemporary society to French literature and film and French linguistic studies. As part of my four year degree I spent a year studying at the Aix-Marseille University in the south of France, where I gained an even greater exposure to the language, culture and lifestyle.
I have very fond memories of long hours spent at the Universities' 'mini-**Contact Detail Removed**' for languages where there is access to a large selection of reference books, multi-lingual dictionaries, self-access courses, audio and video resources and a range of European newspapers and magazines.
I have travelled extensively throughout the world (Europe, Middle East, America, South America, Australia and south-east Asia) and I enjoy regular visits to France where I spent my younger years.
I am a qualified secondary school teacher of French with experience working across both KS3 and 4, as well as experience working with KS1 and 2. My current area of expertise is to support children in SEN education and those who speak English as a second language (EAL) in all areas of the curriculum, to ensure that lessons contain activities which cater for all learning style and help them to build their confidence.
I have a full DBS certificate (formally CRB) which you can check on line.
Teaching and tutoring Years 7 to 12, including GCSE and A-level French.
Personal tutoring for children in a Montessori Nursery School.
4 years experience tutoring in the primary sector including supporting children in intervention groups who need a little booster help with literacy.
I work with all ages and specialise in supporting any specific learning need. I strоngly believe thаt teаching аnd leаrning shоuld be аccessible, engаging аnd аbоve аll, fun! I wоrk hаrd tо prоvide аpprоpriаtely differentiаted teаching mаteriаls аnd hаve а pоsitive аnd encоurаging аttitude tоwаrds my pupils thаt ensures they mаke gооd prоgress during оur sessiоns. Throughout my practice, I drаw directly оn students` specific interests within the subject, sо аs tо prоvide cоnsistently fоcused аnd relevаnt suppоrt.
I aim to make my lessons both interactive and fun, allowing the student plenty of opportunity to practise the language. In my view, using interactive teaching methods such as songs, games, gestures, dance and ICT maintain students' motivation and interest and help bring the language alive.
