Hello! I am Sarah and I am passionate about supporting children with and without learning disabilities to develop their love of learning. I am a fully qualified and experienced Montessori Teacher with experience of working in Vienna and London. I hold a Masters in Museums and Galleries in Education from the Institute of Education, London. I have recently returned from Vienna, Austria, where I was teaching a variety of subjects through English in a Vienna primary school.
I try to be as environmentally conscious as possible. I also love folk music, singing and playing instruments.
Please note that my hourly rate reduces if the the session lasts longer than an hour.
I have taught in a Montessori Kindergarten in Vienna for over 5 years. I have just returned to the U.K. having spent the past two and half years teaching a variety of subjects through the English language in a Vienna Primary School.
I achieved a Masters in Museums and Galleries in Education from the Institute of Education, London and have also worked as a Science Educator at the Natural History Museum, London.
I also have over two years experience of working as a teaching assistant in a London Primary School. I have worked with EYFS, KS1 and KS2 children. In particular I have supported children with special educational needs.
I have an inclusive approach to teaching and believe in the potential of all children. I am passionate about making learning accessible and enjoyable to all. When teaching, I begin by getting to know the child and assessing the child's prior knowledge. I believe that it is important to continually check the child's understanding as I progresses with the tutoring. Often, if the child is struggling with a concept then my teaching will take the form of returning to the basic principle that underlies that concept. I often use concrete activities that the child can relate to and individualise each session to draw upon the child's interests. I am very patient and creative in the way that I work.
I am happy to tutor children who are in a mainstream setting, as well as children who are home educated and other alternative settings.
I have extensive experience of using previously prepared lesson plans as well as developing my own lesson plans. I draw on a variety of resources and use the National Curriculum as a basis for developing my own materials and activities.
