Hi I'm a young professional with 7 years experience working in research and development at Procter & Gamble researching laundry detergents. For the past 6 months I have taken a career break and have travelled around South America to broaden my cultural experiences.
Although I have no direct science teaching experience I am a fully qualified Ballet teacher and taught at a local dance school for 5 years. I am also a Cub Scout leader and frequently run science based activities with large groups of children. Along with this during my time at P&G I was a STEM ambassador which gave me the opportunity to run activities at science fairs (such as the annual Durham science festival) as well as supervising work experience students
I believe there is no one rule fits all when it comes to teaching. My approach will vary depending on the student. I genuinely feel science is fun (hence why I went on to study it at university) and therefore I think the best way to encourage children is to make the lessons fun too.
