This is how 3 referees rated Sara:
I am a 24 year old neuroscience PhD student at the University of Glasgow, with two years of tutoring experience. I recently graduated from the University of Manchester with a first class degree in biology, and am able to teach in all biological disciplines up to A level standard. My passion for the biological sciences was ignited by a fantastic tutor I had at school - I hope I can have the same impact on my students!
I am also fluent in Farsi (Persian), and willing to travel.
I have been tutoring GCSE and A level/Highers students, of varying ability and interest, for the past two years. I am also currently a Graduate Teaching Assistant at the University of Glasgow, which involves one to one tutoring, invigilating and conducting workshops and lab demonstrations. I am also required to communicate complex information to non-experts regularly as part of my PhD - a valuable skill for tutoring at any level!
Previously, I was a student ambassador at the University of Manchester, which gave me experience in communicating information to people of different ages and interests. I also have experience in teaching English as a foreign language.
My approach to teaching is tailored to each student. In the first session, I will work with the student to identify the most effective learning techniques for them, and gauge what they wish to achieve from tutoring. With a set of goals in mind, we will then work together in the following sessions to clarify any confusions, build on areas of weakness and generally supplement the school syllabus.
I like to be creative, approaching subject matters from different angles to give a more robust, whole understanding of complex topics.
