Personal Description:

I am currently a Neuroscience PhD student at UCL, after graduating with 1st class honours from the University of Manchester 4-year integrated Master's of Neuroscience course.

My research has been most focused on memory. The neuroscience projects I have worked on have always had a heavily computational aspect, which has allowed me to really appreciate how mathematics and computer science is applied in actual research. Similarly, the laboratory work has allowed me to practice my knowledge in biology and chemistry.

I am excited to use this experience to encourage students in developing their skills in any of these fields as they prepare for their exams. To ensure that I can provide the tutees with the best tutoring experience, I have participated in additional training courses outside my studies to further develop my skills in teaching and tutoring.

Tutoring Experience:

Teaching Associate Program at UCL - I recently participated in a program aimed at postgraduate teachers and early career lecturers where we learned and applied evidence-based teaching, built core knowledge and professional values, that we can apply in our teaching practice.

Postgraduate Teaching Assistant at UCL - I am employed by UCL as a teaching assistant and have been working at Life Sciences undergraduate laboratory practicals.

Supervising master's students in UCL - As a PhD student at UCL, I have been teaching a master's student a range of cutting-edge laboratory techniques from using a 2-photon microscope to histology.

Food4Thought Project in Manchester - I worked as a group tutor for GSCE and A-level candidates in Maths and Chemistry who were directed to the program as they really needed to improve their grades.

Tutoring Approach:

The first step is getting to know the tutee: their interests, goals and areas they most need to improve at. This informs me of the required approach to keeping the student motivated, as we work towards their goal by focusing on the topics most crucial for their success.

I find it essential to develop a plan that would most effectively prepare the tutee for their exam and guarantee their success. I maintain the tutee's enthusiasm by relating the topics of study to their interest and my experience in the forefront of science.
