I am a confident, patient and friendly medical student at UCL that is hoping to tutor students by making learning fun and exciting! I attended a top grammar school where I achieved 11A*s and 2A's in my GCSE's and took biology, chemistry and maths to A-Level, achieving A*AA. In my first year medical exams, I ranked in the top decile and passed with merit. I have an excellent understanding of the national curriculum and exam technique.
As part of a mentoring scheme in school, I tutored various students across year groups maths and science for three years. I have also successfully tutored individuals to pass the 11+ entrance exams. It was an incredibly rewarding experience to see the sheer happiness on each student’s face when they understood something they had struggled with. Watching them grow in confidence and improve their abilities was heartwarming and I would love to aid more students to reach their full potential in the same way!
In my experience of introducing new concepts to students, alongside being clear and concise, adapting the complexity of words used and having multiple approaches to explanations are crucial. By remaining patient and thinking outside of the box, I encourage students to think out loud and help them formulate their own strategies to tackle challenging concepts, resulting in a deeper understanding of the topics, ensuring a strong foundation of knowledge that can be built upon as each student progresses.
