I am an enthusiastic doctor working at Royal Derby hospital with an interest in paediatrics. I studied Maths, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Critical Thinking and General Studies to A level. I also studied Further Maths to AS level and an additional Extended Project Qualification. I have been awarded a BMBS (Bachelor of medicine and bachelor of surgery) degree as well as a BMedSci Qualification (Hons) after 5 years studying at the university of Nottingham.
I love Science and Maths and I find it very rewarding passing on my knowledge to peers and younger students. I have been tutoring for 6 years and I enjoy helping my students through their studies and seeing the positive results that follow.
One of my main focuses at the moment is helping students through the medicine application process. With one of the highest applicants to places ratio of any course it is very challenging to get a place at medical school. I help students with constructing personal statements, UKCAT practice and interview preparation (including MMI practice). I ensure that my students applications are tailored to their strengths in order to maximise their chances of getting a place at medical school. Having gone through the process myself and knowing what current medical schools are looking for, I have helped a number of students into the medical school of their choice.
I have had over 6 years experience teaching students from year 3 to year 13 in both Maths and Science. I find it easy to get on with young people and explain complex concepts in a way that is more straightforward to understand. I have also had lots of experience tutoring undergraduates and graduates through the medicine application process from ages 16 to 40.
I believe students should not only achieve target grades and above in their subjects, but enjoy them too. For this reason, my lessons are structured around the individual to try and help them progress and aim to be enjoyable too.
I have had great success with all of my students and I believe if someone is willing to learn and work hard then they can achieve well.
