Tower Hamlets Tutor

I recently graduated Peter Symonds College with 2A*'s, A, B in my A-levels and am now reading law Queen Mary's University of London. I hope following this I will go into the fields of corporate law and trusts. I attended Hampshire Collegiate School for my GCSEs and came out with A*,5 A's and 4 B's. I feel that given I recently undertook A-level exams and GCSE's, I can relate to the needs of my students, but also understand the specific areas they may struggle with, and the niche skills the examiners are looking for.

Alongside my studies I have a keen interest in sport, politics and music. I currently Fence for my university, as well as recently joining to the Barbell society with hopes to do powerlifting competitively. I love music and play bass guitar, guitar and drums.

Tutoring Experience

I set up and ran the first politics society at my university, giving me experience in teaching a class of students who had no prior knowledge of the English political system about politics. By the end of the year I had given the class a comprehensive knowledge of the political system in our country, but also enough knowledge for them to make their own informed decisions in the (then) up and coming election.

I also have experience in teaching younger students from running after school clubs at my previous schools.

Tutoring Approach

I am a strong advocate of the approach of giving one the tools to complete the job, but not doing the job for you. Secondary education and above is a matter of learning the hoops to jump through, not necessarily being a walking text book. My approach to teaching is to give my students the knowledge and skills to answer the questions in the way the examiner is looking for, so the answers become a checklist for the examiner to tick and give as many marks as possible. Therefore I will be looking for students to come to me with issues with their work, talk them through said issue, then have a look at past paper questions on that topic area; to confirm that the student has understood and overcome the challenge, and moved on with the approach required to get the marks.
