Hello! I'm a second-year student of English literature at Queen Mary University of London, and I have a huge passion for my subject. Usually I would be up in London, attending my studies, but for the summer I am back home to take a break; reading, writing, and completing my research.
I'm an editor for my university's paper, and an editor and columnist for their arts magazine. When I am not busy with these tasks, I am trying to write stories or learn languages online.
My teaching experience has greatly improved over the past year of so, with extended placements and training. I tutored amongst a group of teachers at a centre in Ilford, London, where I gained expertise in teaching English at Primary, 11+, GCSE and A-level. If you choose me, you'll find I know exactly where to start and how to gather resources for your child. After this, I started to tutor privately, where I have taught English both academically and as a foreign language.
I am also fully DBS-checked, with my certificate on the update service.
1) As a current student of an English BA, who therefore has plenty of free time, I am able to dedicate much more time out-of-hours than those who hold multiple jobs.
2) In this time I shall provide subject and text specific work for your child, which we can arrange prior to study sessions to maximise the hour/s that I spend with them.
3) I believe in student-led learning, and shall therefore create resources that guide and shape your student's mind without any unneeded spoon-feeding, this will give them the critical skills needed for their exams and eliminate any dependence upon a tutor.
4) Finally, I know that students can become overworked, or bored by constant mock-exams and rigid practise exam questions, and so I shall utilise exercises that hold attention, whilst simultaneously developing all the skills they need to succeed.
I can, of course, completely adapt to your needs. If you have any questions, or wish for me to provide you with sample exercises, then feel free to get in touch.
