I am a qualified, approachable and reliable teacher who is dedicated to student learning. Within my career of working with children, I have had the privilege of undertaking a variety of projects, which I have shown both a strong commitment and enthusiasm towards.
To date, I hold seventeen years teaching experience in both class settings and private tutoring. I can confidently teach within a group setting and on a one-to one basis. Throughout my experience, I have taught both individual catch up interventions and booster classes for SATS. Having taught in both key stages one and two, I have a secure grasp of the pedagogy needed to teach children between the ages of five and eleven. Furthermore, I have also been a project manager for residential visits for families who have children with disabilities. Their ages ranged from 5-18 years. Working in a diverse society, the children that I have taught are from a wide range of socio-economic and have multi-cultural experiences.
By regularly participating in CPD sessions, I am knowledgeable with updates in relation to both the teaching of the curriculum and safeguarding children. Within school, I have held a variety of leader positions; SRE, Computing and Writing subject leader.
My approach to teaching is to become familiar with the child’s needs through the use of assessment for learning. This provides a basis of what the student already knows and now needs in order to make progress. I have a holistic understanding of the child; they may be tired after school or another activity. Bearing this in mind, I am still able to plan or assess a particular outcome while taking into consideration the needs of the family and the student. Providing a supportive inclusive education opportunity with high values can ensure that I am able to progress learning and prepare them for their next stage of their education.
