Samantha

I have vast experience in teaching children in KS1 - 3 and in working closely with those who require additional support to progress in the national curriculum or prepare for entrance exams. I quickly achieve positive results by targeting identified gaps then raising self esteem and confidence, through engaging sessions, tailored to individual interests and preferences as much as possible, while using plenty of positive praise along the way - I find a good sense of humour and plenty of smiling also helps!

I have a proven track record in raising children's attainment through private tutoring am 'current' in my experience of the national curriculum and the expectations for each age range. I also hold excellent references.

Tutoring Experience

I am a fully qualified teacher with over 18 years of experience in education and home tutoring. I am currently teaching part time in a school in Wiltshire after recently returning from a stint travelling and teaching abroad. My husband taught in an international school in Malaysia while I took some time with our three children. Before this I worked in a school in Wiltshire teaching children with SEND. Prior to this I was the head of a specialist learning center within a Wiltshire primary school. I have extensive experience of teaching children of all abilities including a wide range of special educational needs. I hold a postgraduate certificate in educating children with ASD, a degree in product design and a PGCE. I am also a training scout leader and hold a current DBS (CRB) check.

Tutoring Approach

I am a friendly, patient, enthusiastic and knowledgeable teacher with a good sense of humour. I realise that home tutoring can often be a source of anxiety for both children and parents but believe my approach creates a calm, friendly but focused environment that helps children to make good progress.
