I am a trained teacher and experienced personal tutor. I am a qualified teacher of DT and can teach and help with coursework upto and including A Level. Many of my students struggle with written coursework and I help to enable them reach the top grades by guiding them through the NEA, following the exam boards requirements. I prepare them for their written exams by improving their exam technique and their technical knowledge as well as the extra maths knowledge which is now required. The classroom is usually a busy environment and I am able to coach children on a one to one basis to give them the confidence to succeed. I have taught children who have gone on to do engineering degrees, architecture, graphic design and materials science. I hope that I inspire children to take an interest in the made world and that they go on to find a path that uses design and technology to improve the world we live in.
I have tutored for the past 4 years and have previously worked in both state and independent schools. I have experience with working with SEN children and those whose first language isn’t English. By personally tutoring I have been able to help students improve their attainment by at least two grades at GCSE and A Level by working in tandem with their subject teacher. I have also worked as an examiner and moderator for design technology.
I work in collaboration with students to help them achieve their personal best. I work with them to set agreed learning objectives and plans. I teach so that the student is motivated and feels that the work is within their reach and the results is as a result of this process.
