This is how 2 referees rated Sam:
I am currently a second year Mathematics student at Exeter University. I enjoy the course and have always had a passion for Mathematics, excelling in senior school and sixth form. Besides from Maths I have an interest in literature and enjoy reading in my spare time, as well as getting out and about playing and watching football.
During studying for my A levels, I worked at Numberworks'nWords for 2 years, tutoring children from ages 4-16 Mathematics and English, which was very enjoyable and rewarding. I have also voluntarily done some unpaid one-on-one tutoring to help out friends in their exams, and with two younger sisters I am often supporting them in their work, and due to my wide range of A levels I am able to help with various other subjects.
As I have recently finished school and am in full time education, I still have regular exams and so I often find myself revising. This puts me in a great position when it comes to tutoring as I have first hand experience of various revision, and general teaching methods. I feel it very important to repeatedly go through examples, focusing on the areas that are found especially difficult by the tutee, and past exam papers are extremely useful (I go through many past papers during my own revision). I find it better when lessons are more interactive and I like to get to know the tutee a bit better so that they have more confidence when it comes to tackling questions.
