I am an experienced and enthusiastic tutor with a great love of languages, both ancient and modern. I have two degrees: a BA from the University of Bristol taken in 1981, and then over 20 years later an MA from UCL.
I've recently studied for a teaching diploma, specialising in tutoring individuals or small groups, from school age through to adult learners. I enjoy learning, and I enjoy helping others in their learning too!
The key to successful tutoring lies in tailoring the content of the classes to the student's needs and objectives. For GCSE/A level, a rigorous approach may be required to ensure that grammar and vocabulary is secure, whereas an adult learner may want to progress quickly to adapted text. Whatever the case, I think learning or revision should be fun too, and I aim to make my lessons as enjoyable as possible, whilst keeping a close eye on exam deadlines!
