I tutor primary-aged children who need extra help with maths and English. This may be a short booster or a longer-term commitment.
I am a qualified teacher and Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator. I am also trained as a Number Counts intervention teacher and can support children with their maths ideally in key stage 2.
With my current experience at primary level, I am well-placed to support children in learning key number facts ti as well as develop confidence in working through maths problems. I develop fluency and understanding through the use of materials and visuals, so children feel confident in number value and calculation. I am also trained to teach Reading Recovery interventions. With an PGDip in SpLD/Dyslexia, I can support children with all aspects of literacy difficulty.
For booster activities, it is important to build confidence and to help children gain a sense of achievement which they can take back to the classroom. I therefore make initial assessments, which help to identify tricky areas, which we can then tackle together. 1:1 work can be exhausting for any child, and is usually limited to one hour at any time.
