I am an approachable, patient and experienced teacher committed to helping students gain confidence and fulfil their potential.
I have a passion for literature and language and it gives me great pleasure to help others develop their enjoyment of reading and writing.
As a mother of three teenage children (two boys and a girl), I understand the pressures that students face both in and outside school.
I have twenty years' experience teaching English to children aged 7-18 in both state and private schools, including preparation for 11+, GCSE, A' level and Oxbridge.
As whole school Literacy Co-ordinator in a mixed inner city London comprehensive my job was to raise standards in reading and writing. I have also been responsible for delivering an Accelerated Reading programme to under-achieving students. I have Certificates (Levels 1 and 2) from the Dyslexia Association.
I was a Governor in a London primary school for six years where I chaired the Standards and Achievement Committee.
I can offer tailor-made tuition - supporting the less academic or stretching the more able. I listen to students and their parents; identify strengths and weaknesses and then develop a step-by-step programme to help individuals achieve their goals.
I like to put people at ease, offer fun, engaging activities and reward effort with plenty of praise.
Available for in-person, over the phone or face-time tuition.
