PLEASE NOTE: I am currently full for all tutoring outside of school hours, although I am still very happy to hear from home educating parents looking for tutoring during the academic day. I am based in South Birmingham offer in-person lessons at my house, or I am able to travel locally for an additional fee. I home educated my own children and I am especially interested in supporting home educating families, although I teach schooled children as well. I have many years of experience of both teaching and parenting, and I offer supportive, friendly tutoring for those who are lacking confidence, needing extra help with the basics, or wanting to achieve especially high grades.
I am a qualified teacher, but for the last 18 years I have been home educating my children from birth to completing GCSEs - I have taught them 36 qualifications across 12 different subjects at GCSE and they achieved 8/9/A* grades in the vast majority of their exams. I have been working as a private tutor for the past 4 years, teaching a mixture of Primary and GCSE pupils. Many of my current pupils have additional needs such as ASD or ADHD and I provide a calm and supportive environment to meet their needs. I can teach across many different subjects, however I don't offer 11+ tuition.
My teaching approach is about building confidence where pupils are struggling, and challenging them to extend their abilities where they are confident. I tailor each lesson to the individual, planning bespoke lessons from scratch to match their needs and abilities. I aim to create a relaxed and friendly environment that doesn't feel like school, whilst retaining the highest professional standards.
