This is how 2 referees rated Sajini:
I am a responsible engaging and determined person.
Having lived in USA, Thailand, India, Spain and the UK for several years I have developed a greater understanding and appreciation of different cultures.
I have enjoyed leading and teaching human values classes for children for 13 years. The objective of these sessions is to help children to understand the importance of values such as respect and friendship through stories, games and activities.
Additionally I organised a number of 3-day human values summer camps for children in which they learnt about human values from diverse activities such as a treasure hunt and a craft workshop. This experience has shown me that children learn best when they are actively engaged in a subject. For instance, starting a maths session with a short, interesting puzzle or maths magic trick can help children to become more interested in their work.
I find teaching children to be extremely rewarding. I encourage them to ask questions, especially when they are unsure of a concept, as I am convinced this is one of the best ways in which they can learn. In my experience, listening carefully to children as they express their understanding of a subject, breaking down tasks into smaller, more manageable steps and providing positive reinforcement significantly boosts their confidence and helps them to make progress.
I would describe myself as very patient and a good listener which I believe is key to bringing out the best in the children I have worked with.
