I am a 23 year old undergraduate studying for a degree in Psychology with Neuroscience. I achieved A*s at GCSE for maths and science, and an A in statistics, I continued these to A-level and now university. I am able to teach maths or statistics up to GCSE level.
In the second year of my A-levels I joined a tutoring club to help the students in the year below. At this club I gave help both in group learning and on a one-to-one basis and was often called on outside of class by students wishing for extra help.
Through being a child support worker at a Quaker meeting, I have gained experience of how to engage otherwise apathetic young teens in learning activities, including how to make academic subjects seem more relevant to people.
I often give help to a family member with William's Syndrome, a condition on the autistic spectrum which makes it very difficult for him to work with numbers. I have no difficulty working with people with a wide range of ability levels.
I believe learning should be an enjoyable and engaging experience wherever possible. I try to achieve this by putting topics into contexts that the tutee can relate to and be interested in, and especially by making sure its at the right level for the individual. I hope to inspire my tutees to be confident as well as capable.
I also offer small group tutoring, contact me for prices.
