I am a teacher who has recently moved to Ireland and am seeking some tutoring work to fit around my family life.
I have been teaching for over seven years. The majority of my career has been spent in a primary classroom but my last position was working for a charity that taught secondary students Maths and English with specific learning and behaviour needs.
I have worked in a large primary school near London where there were lots of nationalities and English was often a second langugae and I have also taught in a small rural school.
I have previously done some private tutoring for primary and secondary school students.
One to one teaching is a great opportunity for children to have their particular learning needs met in a personalised way. I usually start with lots of questions with the child and parent/s to establish gaps in learning and will formulate plans to move children forward. Whenever possible, I will always try and base learning around an interest of the students e.g. football.
I believe that before learning can start, there needs to be investment to get to know the student and develop a positive relationship with them.
I always try to use a range of resources and keep a practical element whenever possible. I like to use a range of websites, videos and games to engage the student.
