Hello! My name is Rosie, and I'm a professional singer and musician. I play in three bands in the folk and traditional music scene, write music, teach workshops, individuals and small groups of people. Unlike many other singing tutors, I specialise in teaching harmony (including how to create your own harmonies), and many of my pupils attend lessons with a friend in order to learn together.
I have been singing for over 15 years and teaching music for the last 7 years. The majority of my teaching experience has been in workshop or class format - both in singing and playing steel drums, leading larger groups of people in addition to one-on-one tuition. However, I do also have experience of tutoring individuals in singing, from complete beginners to advanced technique.
As a singing teacher, I am most interested in bringing out the individual's own personal style and do not subscribe to the idea that there is only one 'right' way of singing. Accordingly, I don't currently teach grades 1-8, but instead put on semi-regular concerts to give my students the benefit of performance practice, as well as giving them something to work towards!
My speciality is folk and traditional music, but I can also teach in the Jazz or Contemporary style. I also offer harmony lessons - bring a friend and learn to sing harmonies together as a less intimidating way to start singing.
