Personal Description:

I am an academic approaching retirement age and have a passion for encouraging academic attainment in an enjoyable and child-centred way. I have worked with children and students of all ages and achievement levels - often in outreach programmes which put the joy of learning at the centre. I am sympathetic to the unique needs of each child, and aim to bring a personal sense of discipline and responsibility as well teaching effective learning techniques for examination success.

Tutoring Experience:

I have postgraduate qualifications in English Literature, French and Religious Studies, and have at different stages of my life (both here and in France) private tutored in English literature and language, French and history from early years to A level. More recently I had a short spell teaching Religious Studies at university level.

Tutoring Approach:

Working with a private tutor is an effective way to overcome any stumbling blocks your child may have been encountering with particular subjects. Now working part-time as an academic researcher at my local university, I have resumed personal tutoring because I know how important it is to build confidence and nurture talent and enthusiasm for learning from the earliest learning in primary school right through to university. I can help you to get to grips with course work and examination techniques in a one-on-one learning experience that is calm, methodical and often fun.
