I am a professional maths tutor with 13 years experience.
I work from home in Bradford on Avon or can travel to your home (NB. additional time / travel cost charged).
I work with a variety of students and what I learn from one, I can apply to the others.Using a practical approach as well as more traditional book / paper resources, I enjoy meeting students of all ages and working with them.
2018 results : A level (A, 2xBs, U), GCSE (higher - 8, 2x 5s, foundation - 4x 5s, 4, 3)
2017 results : A level ( 2 As, 2 Bs and 2 Ds), AS level (CCD, 2x U), GCSE ( 1x 7, 2x 6) and results at iGCSE (B) and at retake GCSE (D),
I am a qualified, secondary school, mathematics specialist with 14 years experience of teaching both Key Stages, GCSE and A level in five schools. I have also taught GCSE statistics, GCSE maths to adults and for the PGCE maths equivalency test. I am a GCSE and AS exam marker for Edexcel. I can teach all of the A level maths modules, and most of further maths.
I have worked with a variety of students from those struggling to make sense of school maths through to academic high-fliers. I have also tutored home-schooled students and those with cronic fatigue syndrome.
I have also tutored AS physics, BTec mechanical engineering modules and Access to Opticians College.
From Jan to May 2018, I taught maths part time at Beechen Cliff School, Bath
I run 1-2-1, hourly sessions mostly but like to be flexible.
The shortest session would be 45 minutes and I can run tuition for up to 2 hours, for sustained exam preparation work.
To make costs more manageable, I offer 1-2-3 tuition at a group rate.
Some tutors come weekly and others fortnightly.
I use textbooks, internet resources, past exam papers and my own material - we devise a programme of study to suit your needs.
We always have an initial meeting to see how our expectations match and how your needs can be met. Then, aim to arrange a set of three sessions as the first step.

Most tutoring is on weekdays, either daytime or afternoon to evening. But I offer a fortnightly Saturday am too.

Using a tutor, he can get his work marked, check over the work done in college lectures and extend the range of questions he does.

We are at the start of our tutoring relationship and I hope that we make a good deal of progress together.
A lot of the work at the start will be confidence building and then building on the foundations of current school work, to extend your daughter's maths.
Thomas has found it really beneficial and recently attained 100% in his school Mechanics exam. He feels he is catching up fast and has definitely improved under Robert's calm and patient personality. It's clear that Robert is a very conscientious person who can adapt to the needs of his pupils. I would recommend him unreservedly.
We had to make up quite a bit of ground together but using some simple principles such as 'always draw a sketch', we have built up Thomas' confidence.
There is still some work to do on C3 and then the full content of C4 but with the right foundations set, I am sure that Thomas will achieve the grades that he needs for his next step.
Robert has been very helpful so far.
We are not sure whether he wants to continue with A2 maths but this would be a good choice for him in the future.
She is willing to work hard to achieve her goals.
We have a fortnightly, two hour commitment and use the time to review work from class and look forward to new topics.
I hope that Sophia does very well as a result of my additional input to her maths studies.
We first worked together through some recent tests, highlighting matters of content that were missed or misunderstood. We are now working on questions prompted by work from class, this might be errors or simply work that is correct but with no method shown. Some of the work will will do in the future is to extend the work done in class - tutoring simply gives more time to explore the valuable work done in class and give it time to 'mature'. Euan is responding well to the time we spend together. I hope that he will achieve a great deal, both in year 9 and future years.
