Personal Description:

I am an experienced tutor, having helped students in a variety of subjects at different stages of their academic lives over the past six years.

I graduated from the University of Manchester with a degree in English Literature in 2011, and recently completed an MA in History from Queen Mary, University of London, for which I was awarded a distinction.

I grew up in Liverpool, and have lived in London since leaving University. As well as tutoring and studying, I have worked in theatre, primarily as a writer and producer with Imaginary Friends.

Tutoring Experience:

I have worked with students across a range of ages and subjects since starting work as a tutor in 2011.

I have taught a number of students working towards A-Level History, Politics and English Literature exams. I am familiar with all the exam boards in these subjects, all three of which I studied at A-Level myself, and two of which I have studied in further education. Similarly, I have lots of experience in helping students to prepare for their GCSE History, English Literature and English Language exams. I have worked with students some who have, for whatever reason, fallen behind on their work and helped them to catch up, while others I have supplemented their existing work and helped to ensure that they are as prepared as possible.

I have also helped a number of students prepare for secondary school entrance exams, teaching 11+ entrance to both individual students and running week long school holiday courses for Greater London Tutors.

Most of my work has been face to face, but I have also taught several students on Skype and always had positive experiences of this.

Tutoring Approach:

I try to form a good personal relationship with every student, seeing them as an individual and working out the best way to organise our time together to meet their unique needs. I endeavour to tailor my approach for every student but, of course, certain consistent factors - knowledge of the syllabus and being well prepared for lessons - are important in all cases.
