Personal Description:

I am a student at the University of Cambridge studying an MPhil in Scientific Computing. My main interests are in Computer Science, Maths, and Physics, and using technology to advance education.

Tutoring Experience:

I have been tutoring since my final year of high school, where I began by tutoring maths to younger students. Throughout my undergraduate studies I tutored high school students in Maths, Advanced Programme Maths, Physics, Chemistry, and Programming/IT. I have also tutored Physics to first year university students, as well as first and second year Maths.

Tutoring Approach:

I usually begin by taking a lesson to get to know the student whom I will be tutoring, to try and find out which areas they are having problems with so that we can come up with a plan to help the student. I also try to gauge whether they will respond better to visual learning, repetition, etc. I will then try to adopt that style. I also believe that practise plays a large role in the subjects which I tutor, so will make sure that the student has some additional work to do in between lessons. I usually try to set questions which will allow me to test which of the previously covered material the student has/has not mastered, which helps provide a starting point for the next lesson.
