I am an experienced and successful teacher of Geography and Sociology. My students have had success at all levels, from GCSE to Postgraduate. I live in Bury St Edmunds and am happy to visit you at home at a time to suit you. I have a strong belief that, with determination and guidance, everyone can make progress in their chosen subject. I have the specialist knowledge to provide you with the guidance you need, and you possess the determination to succeed.

Tutoring Experience

My teaching experience has been gained in Secondary Schools, Further Education Colleges, Sixth Form Colleges, and Universities. I have focused on A Levels in particular over 25 years, and also have ten years experience of University tutoring at Undergraduate and Postgraduate level. My qualifications and experience have been in the specific areas of Geography and Sociology. I have worked successfully with students with a wide variety of backgrounds, ambitions, and abilities.
I have had particular success with A Level Geography personal investigations, with all students achieving over 90%.

Tutoring Approach

My style is to make use of the student's existing knowledge and abilities, as a foundation on which to build. I make specific use of dedicated exam board materials and make sure we follow the specification and exam requirements closely. Very often students have a high level of knowledge but lack a certain skill of analysis or evaluation. My tutorials will help you quickly develop these essential skills and you will see your grades improve. Unless there is an obvious gap in your knowledge I won't ask you learn a lot of new information, but I can show you how to use your existing knowledge more effectively, to improve your marks. This works equally well for students revising for an exam as it does for people looking for extra tuition to support their standard timetabled lessons throughout the year.
I have worked succesfully with students to improve their use of English for academic purposes, such as essays and reports.
In addition I have tutored Special Needs students on their qualifications ranging from Entry Level to University level. This has been Academic subjects as well as Life Skills and Job Skills.
Instead of the introductory discount, I can provide you with a free copy of a relevant investigation skills textbook.
