I am a highly experienced A level Sociology teacher and Head of department at a leading Sixth form college in Taunton which currently caters for almost 300 A level Sociology students. I am well known for my excellent rapport with all students and my very effective enthusiastic teaching style. I am highly driven by targets which has accounted for my consistently excellent result over the past 9 years at both AS and A level. Above all, I have a very approachable personality which I believe is essential alongside my vast subject knowledge and excellent teaching skills.
My experience stretches across three examination boards which includes 11 years teaching accross the OCR and AQA specifications and the past year getting familiar with the new WJEC (EDUQAS) linear specification. In addition, I am also an experienced Sociology examiner with numerous years experience. I currently work for both AQA and WJEC which has been crucial to my success as an A level teacher as I am consistently aware of the importance of changing assessment criteria.
My approach to private tutoring is to be open minded and flexible based on individual needs, styles and preferences. I have a vast amount of experience of doing individual and group workshops which cater for varying abilities. Some students simply need to be stretched at the top end to achieve their highly set goals whilst other students may wish to build their confidence and performance by re-visiting taught material and adopting new strategies to their learning. I am delighted to note that I have had an extremely pleasing set of A level results in August 2016 which does include one very satisfued private tutee arranged through First tutors.
